posted Nov 26, 2018, 6:50 PM by Amanda Seigler

Based on positive feedback last year, Everglades District is again hosting this Annual event open to our local Districts in Gulf Stream Council, all scouters, and immediate family members and friends. Lion Country has offered to partner to provide this fun-filled day event.

The price per Scout and family members is an over 50% reduction in price and will include a Cub scout rank Adventure (aligned with our new cub scout program), the Drive through park adventure, and a full day at the Safari Amusement Park. This will be a CLASS B event for our scouts. * It is highly recommended that you plan your day to include the many cool activities at Lion Country Safari. Included in this packet is detailed information about the Cub scout Adventure programs, Boy Scout Merit Badge class, and opportunities to meet other electives toward rank advancement.

Included in your online pre-registration is the discounted rate with free parking, unlimited drive-through the safari jungle, Cub Scout Rank Adventure Class, Boy Scout Merit Badge Class, discount for lunch, and unlimited time at the Amusement Park. But that’s not All! Update on CLAW 2018

posted Sep 16, 2018, 6:22 PM by Amanda Seigler

Thank you to everyone who joined us at CLAW 2018 yesterday…

What a great day….over 680 scouts registered thru the lines…thanks for your patience!!!

I knew we were in for a busy day, when we had 75 people in line at 8:15am!

Add an adult partner to each scout and throw in some siblings and guests, we had over 1400 just for our event.

The biggest CLAW in the last 10 years!

With numbers like that I knew we would run out of something…I based my Belt Loops & pins on last year’s numbers plus a few extras…

We took orders for the loops & pins we ran out of, I will get those to the Scouts as soon as I can….

Scouts have their rank check off sheets to give to their Den leaders, so they can be added in to your advancement system…

The CLAW patches did not arrive in time due to the hurricane, I guess they shipped them by boat?

If they arrive at Council tomorrow, I will have them sorted by Pack at Roundtable for pick up… otherwise I will find a way to get them to you…

Thanks, as always…

Joanne

Gulf Stream Council Scout BSA Troop Cracker Trail Camporee 2/15-17/2019

posted Aug 19, 2018, 8:36 AM by Amanda Seigler   [ updated Aug 25, 2018, 6:43 AM ]

When: Febuary 15th-17th
Who: Scouting, BSA troops, Ranks tenderfoot and higher
Where: Camp Oklawaha in Sebastian, Florida

RSVP by October 1st

Calling all Troop Cowboys & Cowgirls!  Tenderfoot rank Scouts and up are welcome to round up on the Cracker Trail at TK.   Patrols, bring yer covered wagons, western wear, with all yer gear to complete the Scout skills in the 15 towns along the trail.  Mark yer ground with a patrol flag, show the best spirit & earn the traveling spirit walking stick. There is a wagon race after the town visits are over. Earn gold nuggets for the auction before dinner in the dining hall.  At the end of the day we corral at the campfire to see the first, second and third place winners in all events!

Who will earn the spirit stick??  Whats the cool stuff at the auction??  Who will win the wagon race??  Y’all have to be thar to find out.

Please circulate to all your troops only. We recommend patrols of 8 with mixed rank to help the younger scouts.  New cross over scouts are discouraged due to lack of skill knowledge.  Its a full day of non-stop skill action & racing around camp to beat the clock to get to the next town in time to complete the skill. Leaders are encouraged to help out in the towns.  There are scores to take, wagons to judge, flags to judge, gold nuggets to pass out,  pictures to take and lots of cheering to do as the wagons race by on their way to the next town.

Best time hands down the scouts will have!!!

Handbook will be available soon.

Thank you

The Cracker Traill Committee
